The Client

Children’s Cancer North is an independent charity who support individuals and families impacted by childhood cancer. Over the past 40 years, they have raised over £40 million with their legacy charities for children in the Northeast and Cumbria. Their mission is to make life better for children with cancer, through investing in research, providing support to families and raising more awareness of childhood cancer.

The Problem

When Children’s Cancer North first approached Netmatters, they urgently needed assistance with re-establishing their email communications. Their previous email hosting platform had been shut down, resulting in the entire Children’s Cancer North team and users of the charity losing their ability to access this channel of communication. This could have critical consequences for the charity, with no way of communicating important or priority information and a loss of credibility if those they support could not get in touch with the charity.

The Solution

After we had discussed requirements for a new email platform, we helped Children’s Cancer North transition into Office 365. As a Microsoft Silver Partner, our team of IT support technicians were able to work with the charity to get their new Office 365 installed and set up with a clear migration and integration plan. This meant Children’s Cancer North could focus on the day-to-day running of the charity knowing that our expert team was working in the background and always on hand to help with any problems or queries.

With Office 365, the charity could email again but also use the additional features and functions such as sharing team calendars and events. They could once again connect with individuals and families, with plenty of storage for files and easy management of relationships and appointments.

Moreover, we also verified Children’s Cancer North for Not-For-Profit discounts on their 365 licenses, which minimized monthly overheads to the charity. This meant the charity achieved lower costs and maximized value on their plans, resulting in an even greater return on investment.

The Result

With lower costs and renewed access to email communications, Children’s Cancer North could resume their daily operations to the best of their abilities. Their brand-new Office 365 environment allowed them to use a whole host of features that they would never have accessed through their previous email provider. Office 365’s platform opened opportunities for the charity in document sharing and communication. With Office 365, the team has saved time, money and energy since everything exists under one easily accessible platform.

“We couldn’t thank Netmatters enough for everything that they have done. When our previous email provider suddenly ceased to exist we lost all ability to communicate with our stakeholders and fundraisers. It was an extremely stressful time. Netmatters held our hand and guided us through what would be the best way forwards for us, making the transition easy. They were professional, and friendly throughout and went over and above to help us out of a very difficult position. We love our new Office 365 platform - it’s worry-free and easy to use. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Netmatters to others thinking about this as a new IT project.” Heather Peacock, the charity’s lead on this new integration.
