Netmatters are extremely happy to announce that we have won the Eastern Daily Press (EDP) Skills of Tomorrow Award!
As part of the EDP’s Norfolk Business Awards, this award recognises those who uplift and empower the county’s next generation of talent.
We place a high value on providing opportunities in our industry to those who need them. Receiving an award for something we are so passionate about makes the hard work truly worth it.
Our nomination for this award came as the result of a lengthy selection process. This culminated in a visit from 3 judges at our Wymondham office, who observed the Netmatters team at work.
We were then asked to describe our ambitions for the future. A key part of our vision is the development of our Scion Coalition Scheme (SCS). We launched this intensive scheme 18 months ago to provide on-site training and experience for aspiring junior software developers.

A fundamental part of the SCS is that candidates do not need any formal qualifications or professional experience. All they need is a keen interest in software development and the determination to succeed. We were praised by the judges in our efforts to fill this skills gap, and our programme to nurture aspiring coders was described as ‘innovative’.
Since starting the Scion Coalition Scheme, we have partnered with an array of local organisations keen to recruit our graduates. As a result of this, we were able to provide sponsorship opportunities from these businesses and expand our intake of candidates. Currently, 75% of graduates have found success in a junior developer role.
As we approach the end of 2018, we must say that winning this award is a fantastic way to end the year. We will now aim even higher in our goals for 2019, and continue to develop our vision for Norfolk’s business community.
Netmatters would like to thank the judges and everyone involved in the selection process, our fellow nominees for being truly worthy competition, and finally everyone that has supported us throughout this process.
We would like to just say one final thank you to the sponsors of these awards, Anglian Water, for sponsoring the event and Lotus, for sponsoring the award we won, "Skills of Tomorrow".
For those who have followed us throughout this process, Netmatters will always welcome those interested in working for us or a potential collaboration. To find out more about the Scion Coalition Scheme, click here for further information.
