We’re Gold! Netmatters Achieves 2024 Gold Carbon Charter Award

Netmatters is excited to announce that we have been awarded the Gold Carbon Charter Award for 2024! 

This is the third time we have achieved the Carbon Charter Award, achieving Silver in 2019 and progressing to Gold in 2021.  

How We’re Working Towards Net Zero 

As a leading full-service digital agency offering bespoke software & web development, software integration, digital marketing, IT support,telecoms & cyber security, we know how important it is to be forward-thinking and to future-proof everything we do.  

Here at Netmatters, we are leading the way in helping the UK to achieve their goal of meeting Net Zero targets. This means that by 2050 the UK will no longer be contributing to global warming. 

It is no secret that we are passionate about the environment and we make sure this is embedded into everything we do day-to-day. We’re already Carbon Neutral and now we’re working towards our Net Zero Status.  

For example, we have:  

• a paperless office; 
• electric fleet cars; 
• a cycle-to-work scheme; 
• incentives for our employees to make positive choices such as a salary sacrifice scheme when leasing a new electric vehicle; 
• funded over 13,000 trees worldwide; 
• planted 250 trees to celebrate staff milestones; and 
• installed solar panels on the two highest power-using units. 

What is the Carbon Charter? 

The Carbon Charter recognises businesses throughout Suffolk and Norfolk as they take positive action towards achieving Net Zero and is delivered by Groundwork East and overseen by the Environment Agency and Suffolk County Council.  

It is rewarded based on an independent assessment carried out by qualified auditors. The award has 3 levels:  

• Bronze – the business takes its carbon impact seriously 
• Silver – the business has significantly reduced its carbon emissions 
• Gold – the business is an exemplar of low carbon management

A big part of that is making sure we are doing everything we can to be environmentally friendly — this is a part of our core values. It is important to us that our employees, customers, suppliers and partners know that they are working with a modern, ambitious, future-focused business who aren’t shy about taking risks.  

Future Plans 

We are thrilled to achieve this award! However, we know our work is never done! Moving forward, we have plans to:  

• add more solar panels; 
• introduce telematics; 
• complete the upgrading of lighting to low-energy LED; 
• introduce a compost bin outdoors for waste; 
• consider installing smart controls for heating etc.; 
• review cleaning products; and 
• review grocery deliveries.
